Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season.  If you’re a client hopefully you’ve received a holiday card from us.  If you are not a client, what are you waiting for?

Seriously, at this time of year it just seems appropriate to reflect on the past year.  We’ve gone through some changes here at AMP that I’d like to share with you.

For starters, we’re finally ONLINE.  After a couple years of friends prodding and poking me to get it done, we went live with the first version of our site in January.  And have there been a lot of changes for the better.

We completed a couple of reports and guides to assist business owners with their merchant accounts, whether they are just starting out or have been processing for a while.  So that’s a plus.  And wait to you read the case study coming in January.

On a sad note, we did lose a couple of clients this year who were forced to close their doors.  One guy became a friend of mine, and made THE BEST hand-crafted chocolate in the world.  But when the economy turned, coupled with a personal family situation, it was just too much to keep the lights on.  What a shame.

On a positive note, Kelly joined AMP and has been fantastic.  She’s helping me complete the “business in a box” that will hopefully roll out in January.  So stay tuned.

Gift Cards… Not Just for the Holidays

If you own a retail business, you know that your #1 goal is to get folks walking in your door.  And, once they visit, to entice them to spend money with you.

At this time of year lots of folks think about using gift cards.  Maybe the sales rep who hooked up your merchant account recommended you buy them.  And if you’re like most business owners I meet, they just sit on a display rack collecting dust.

Until now.

Though it IS true that gift card sales increase this time of year, if you’re just waiting for the holidays to put those little plastic cards to use, you’re missing out on a powerful marketing magnet for your business.

That’s right.  Gift cards are NOT just for the holidays.  For example, they can…

  1. draw your “regulars” back again and again
  2. help get new customers coming in to “check you out”
  3. reward your customers for making referrals

Not too bad, right?

And the common thread involves getting more people coming by your place and hopefully spending their money once they’re there.

As a retail business owner, you know the lifeblood of your business depends on the number of transactions you process each day, week, and month.  And increasing the amount of each transaction is a great way to “amp your cash flow.”
